The Ability Radio Project is a 4ZZZ co-production with people with an intellectual disability (ID) and support workers. We run courses in radio production skills, and a regular radio group with the constituents of the Community Living Association and WWILD Sexual Violence Project, the People of the Air group.

The project is intended to give voice to the challenges and triumphs of people with an ID in their own voices, to address issues important to people with ID and to provide information about services available in the community. Content will be driven by the participants, and produced with the guidance of support workers with experience in advocacy and radio production. It will give people experience in planning, team-work, interviewing, audio editing and distribution in community radio. We hope it will also foster community engagement and self-efficacy.

Completed radio packages have been broadcast on Community Radio 4ZZZ102.1fm, Zed Digital and the Community Radio Network.
