We speak to Jonny Niesche about his upcoming work as part of Brisbane Festival called Sound and Vision (Total Vibrations).

Created specifically for Night Feast at the Powerhouse, Total Vibration is a major new site-specific installation, transforming the Stores Studio into a realm of reflection and reverberation, sound and vision. Two massive flexible mirrors—one horizontal, one vertical—face off across the space, rippling, trembling, and shimmering in response to an atmospheric soundtrack by Niesche’s longtime collaborator, British electronic musician Mark Pritchard. Jonny Niesche is based in Gadigal/Sydney, and is represented by 1301SW, Naarm/Melbourne and Gadigal/Sydney.

Today on the program Dave, our special guest host, is am talking to two artists who are having a group exhibition at a hair salon. We are talking to Louan Walker and Anthony Jiglan, both are very experienced artists here in brisbane and both with completely different styles.

The "Distraction of Art" (D.O.A.) group exhibition is a month-long showcase of 8 diverse Brisbane artists held at B.LOWE Hair & Art Space in Portside Wharf, Hamilton. The exhibit runs for the entire month, with the official Opening Night taking place on June 13.

For full transparency, I am also in the exhibition but Dru, Artaches regular host, set up this interview before she knew I was in the group exhibition.

Today on the program, Dave whitfield is taking over the desk to give a rundown of his finalist entry in the Gallipoli Art Prize, Dave will talk about how he got there and the work involved.

Dave will also play an interview with artist Luke Cornish. Luke is a 4 times Archibald finalist and uses his stencil street art to make political statements. We talk to Luke about his prize winning entry into the Gallipoli art prize, which depicts the destruction of a commonwealth cemetery in Gaza where the graves of Australian soldiers were destroyed by the IDF.

Milan is an emerging multimedia artist investigating the rise of new-wave misogyny online, specifically the manosphere. Through self-portraiture, text, and video works, they interlace humour with facts to critically unpack the language and myths of digital subcultures, making underlying ideologies visible and understandable to wider audiences. Currently, they are researching how incel culture has evolved and manifested in contemporary mainstream culture through certain memes and vocabulary. Guided by research from feminist authors such as Laura Bates and Cynthia Miller-Idriss, as well as research into past and present incel forums and websites, they hope that by understanding its history in online spaces, we can prevent others from being indoctrinated into similar extremist ideologies.
