The premise of the radio show is that we are all in the Cage. We are herded, seduced, lured and corralled into the Cage to feed the machine. The machine generates the vast wealth controlled by a minute fraction of the world’s population. 
(Some people refer to that as the one per cent. Here in The Cage we call them the one per crore. The crore being the number 10,000,000 in the Vedic system used across Southern and Central Asia. One per crore of the world's population is 700 people, a more accurate depiction of the people who actually control the world.)

The Cage is characterized by the rules that bind us and the punishment used to threaten us if we attempt to break those rules. We cover stories about prison, corruption of the law by commercial interests, abuse of power and the awful things we do to each other in our individual attempts to survive.

The Generator is the section of the Cage dedicated to escape. It examines ways to avoid the Cage, escape the Cage, dismantle it. Given that those are very long-term projects we also look at ways to make it more comfortable, turning it into a playpen or padded cell; expand it so we have more room, inject some morality into its operating rules so that it is more human.

The Cross represents the moral justification used by the ruling elite to herd us into the cage. It is a section of the Cage that deals with belief and morality. As well as analyzing the abuse of faith by the elite to control the rest of us, The Cross explores the quest for a morality that might free us from the Cage.
